Maarten is geeking out on Azaleas at Bellingrath Wednesday the 17th at 10:30. If you really want to understand what azaleas are, where they come from, and how to tell which ones do well on the coast, then there's no better way to spend Ash Wednesday.
Better than Christmas! Southeastern Plant Symposium haul. These guys rock!
Nothing will get you going like a cold shower in the morning
I cannot understand why this plant hasn't caught on. Raphiolepis Redbird. Just beautiful.
This is another old timer that is tough to find in the Garden Centers anymore; Spiraea prunifolia 'Plena', the Popcorn spirea. This girl is a sure sign that spring's not far behind.
Another of my early spring favorites. This is Prunus jaquemontii, the bush cherry. We quit growing it for a while because it blooms too early for the Garden Centers. Don't care. It's too nice not to grow.
The quince have been spectacular this spring.
This is from the same Little River trip. I guess this is from the Boy Scouts swimming hole. When they say "Swim at your own Risk", they ain't foolin.
